Minecraft Hoenn: Part 37/43: Sky Pillar

Part 37/43 of the creation of the Hoenn Region in Minecraft.

So my pre-owned 3DS XL finally arrived today. The colour was chosen at random so I ended up with a red one which is very appropriate considering I bought it to play Pokemon Omega Ruby. So that's what I've been doing the last few hours before writing this up. So far I'm up to Rustboro City which I built in this project way back in part 4 in July 2014.

And for some good news. My NEXT PROJECT will be the Sinnoh Region from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl. Just like this project I will be blogging it at:
http://minecraftsinnoh.blogspot.com.au/
The project will begin shortly after this one is complete.

But that can be put on hold for now because It's time for another update.

SKY PILLAR

Sky Pillar is partially integrated into route 131. It is inaccessible until the player in the Gameboy game has entered the Hall of Fame. The actual area is very small. Less than 52x28 blocks.

Erecting the foundation took no time at all. Very easy.

But the pillar was slightly more difficult. I found it easier to do most of the building in Minecraft rather than the world editor because on a small scale, it's much easier.

But I did use a world editor to clone the walls. That was quite useful.

The doorways at the rear of the building. Instead of stairs I'm using ladders because they take up less space.

Glassless windows add to the slightly ancient and abandoned feel of the Sky Pillar.

The ladders are inside the building but the ladder system protrudes out the back so the ladders can fit.

And inside...
1st floor.  The clay is there to simulate 'rocks' but whatever.

2nd floor. The grey glass panes are supposed to be the holes in the floor. You can fall through them here.

3rd floor.

4th floor.

The roof. This is the place where players in the Gameboy game can catch the legendary Rayquaza

Now the cave that leads from the sea to the summit. This cave goes into the hill and exits at the small cave at the top.

Fortunately this is one cave that will fit. Unlike others because I was unaware that 15 blocks from sea level to bedrock was way too little. Oh well, next time.

Open cave for that airy feel. No. The ceiling was stone but needed to be changed to dirt but there was sand above that which fell and was subsequently removed.

Top down view. It's not a 100% accurate reproduction of the cave seen in the Gameboy but it's close enough.

Dirt added.

Ceiling added.

Sand added. Now there are no signs of the cave other than the obvious entrance and exits.

And finally. Replacing the water.

With the water replaced the Sky Pillar is now finished.

The top of Sky Pillar visible from the sea.

Looking up at Sky Pillar. It looks sort of... intimidating.

The roof with a view. Sootopolis City is clearly visible.

And from Sootopolis City, Sky Pillar is clearly visible.

Sky Pillar a bit closer.

Progress so far.
